Fly Fishing
Morrison’s is an Orvis-endorsed lodge with some of the finest guides available. We pride ourselves on the ability to cater to all anglers at every skill level from the total beginner child, to the most experienced fly caster. Each anglers needs will be determined in a pre-arrival interview. This allows us to completely customize the package for you.
We had a super time in every way! Bryce is a very competent boatman/oarsman and a knowledgeable steelhead guide. The fishing was a bit slow but we caught great fish! Thank You! Ernie & Diane, CA
Fly Fishing Techniques for Steelhead:
Nymphing – Primarily two large flies no extra weight, very effective both from the boat and wading. All boats are set up with casting braces. Moderate casting demand.
Swing Flies – Use an intermediate sink tip line. Fish single hand or two handed techniques with traditional steelhead patterns. For many this is the purist way to target steelhead. Moderate casting demand.
Pulling Flies – Also known as the “Rogue River Twitch”, this technique requires minimal to no casting. Perfect for the beginner or experience angler looking for a more relaxing pursuit of steelhead.
Fishing Equipment
Fishing equipment is provided on all guided trips. We offer Rogue River Steelhead fly patterns in our tackle shop and fishing licenses are available at the lodge as well. If bringing your own equipment we recommend 6, 7, or 8 weight rods with nymphing lines and sink tips. For Switch or Spey we recommend a 6/7 weight.
